STIGMA & INCLUSION: Mental Health Problems Still a Workplace Stigma

Did you know that 40% of employees have experienced mental health issues at work and not told their employers for fear of negative consequences? Like the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Equality Act 2010 in the United Kingdom provides protection against discriminatory behavior based on mental health concerns. However, an article from The Guardian argues that employers might need to be made aware of such concerns before they discipline based simply on poor job performance which may, in turn, be a result of poor mental health.
