STIGMA & INCLUSION: Stigma and Discrimination of Mental Health Problems – Workplace Implications

Not only do many individuals report being turned down for jobs due to having a mental illness, but many also report being afraid to look for work because of stigma. A University of Oxford publication looks at stigma from three angles: knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. Authors Elaine Brohan and Graham Thornicroft compile some interesting data taken from studies on employment stigma, and explain how people in the workplace can become better educated on mental health concerns.
