OVERCOMING OBSTACLES: How Does Mental Illness Affect My Work Performance?

Boston University’s Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation adapted information from an article entitled Reasonable Accommodations for Workers with Psychiatric Disabilities. Disabled workers are faced with a variety of issues that may affect their work performance for which employers are required to provide accommodations. Some challenges for those with a psychiatric disability include an inability to screen out environmental stimuli, an inability to concentrate, and difficulty handling time pressure, handling multiple tasks, and interacting with others.
